A recent survey revealed that the penetration of smartphone banking reached an all-time high in 2016, with the majority of Americans managing financial activities using such a device each month. However, the study found that only 37 percent of customers employ smartphones for banking more than three times a month.
Growth factors in mobile banking range from the ubiquity of smartphones to a growing sense of security associated with making transactions using mobile devices. With access to a quality mobile app a major factor in whether banks attract and retain customers, there appears to be significant room for improvement, as only one-third of those surveyed described their bank app as “excellent.”
